Tea houses

Three are two tea houses in Hama-rikyu. The most prominent is the Nakajima-no-ochaya which is located on an island in the middle of the Shioiri-no-ike Pond. It is accessed on two sides by the O-tsutai Bridge and on the third side from the Nakajima Bridge.

Pine teahouse

Matsu-no-ochaya (Pine Teahouse)

Matsu-no-ochaya or Pine Teahouse was built in the time of the 11th shogun. It was destroyed by fire during the war and was restored in 2010 based on research of the remains including the cornerstones. The reconstruction was faithful to the historical sources.
