The open park is next to the gardens and is open to all without an entrance fee. I walked over there to see the clock which I had noticed when looking at Google maps. The clock was built to be reminiscent of the Edo period. The park also has a number of cherry trees and tea house.

Near to the clock I also saw a large pergola which had been created for Wisteria to grow on and for people to sit under. An elaborate bamboo frame had been built to prevent damage to the Wisteria trunk.
